International Cooperation to Meet the Net-Zero Challenge Promoted by the 3rd Asia-Pacific Roots & Shoots Youth Summit

Date:2022/06/11

To expand international horizon of youth and promote exchanges of youth action initiatives, the Jane Goodall Institute, Taiwan, the International Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots Eco-Center of Chang Jung Christian University(CJCU), and Green Dawulun Community Office jointly organized the 2022 Asia-Pacific Roots & Shoots Youth Summit registered by ten teams of 24 representatives from six countries India, Japan, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Burundi, and Eswatini. In the end, three international teams were formed to present their action plans in the end of August after three-month preparation. This year marked the third year of the Asia-Pacific Roots & Shoots Youth Summit and due to the pandemic, it was held online. This year, themes on “climate change” and “net zero emission” were selected to link up to the UN Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs). On the first day, the keynote speaker from Japan, a member of INOW Program, Ms. Kana Watando, shared her team’s experience of zero waste and encouraged young students to meet challenges and build a better environment by developing a cohesive community and communicating with different stakeholders.
